Found this place through the Happy Cow app looking for something different that had Vegan options. It's a wow for sure. Excellent atmosphere, service , and food. They very extremely accommodating with my vegan requests and everything tasted home made. I'll definitely be coming back. So glad to find great places like this!!

Read all about why people love Modesto! This is hands down my favorite Mexican spot in Baton Rouge. I am not a big Tex-mex fan so the motto "mas mex less Tex" drew me in. I love the el pastor tacos, street corn, and their chip seasoning. Seriously so good and the deals are great. Get a skinny margarita! Service is always fast. Modesto's takeout is great quality too. The patio is so nice on a summer evening.

I went to Modesto twice recently and it was so freaking good! I usually order the tacos, but the most recent time I went I decided to try something new and ordered the pollo del rey which was essentially fajitas for one. I am OBSESSED!!! I feel like anytime I go now I'll have to get them because they were possibly the best chicken fajitas I've ever had! The toppings were quality and the chicken was so juicy and flavorful. I also loved how it came with delicious chimichurri on top which is what made it stand out from other fajitas I've had. I also liked how you could get roasted potatoes or rice and beans with it because sometimes rice and beans is just heavy to me so I'm not in the mood for it. I also ordered a small house margarita during happy hour and they have some of my favorite margs! They are super super strong but so tasty at the same time. Also, I'd like to applaud Modesto for their incredible happy hour! Having their tacos all be $4, their dip trio be $10, and their house margs be half off is a crazy good steal! Sometimes I come just to order their dip trio during happy hour and that's enough for me. The staff is always friendly and I always enjoy hearing their recommendations. It's also just such a cute place inside and on the outside patio that has fans when it gets hot. I can't wait to go back for happy hour!

10 OUT OF 10 STARS
(Google, you are killing me, I need plenty more stars)
It is of Spanish and Latin origin, and the meaning of Modesto is "modest, moderate, humble."
But if we are speaking Spanish,
"¡Excelente comida, excelente servicio, y un ambiente vibrante!"
I enjoyed my time here with family and was glad to indulge in my favorite foods, Mexican, authentic, so to speak. Love you, Reggie & Courtney. Say hello and give thanks to my favorite cousins who suggested this establishment!!
The atmosphere was what I call "all-around!" It was family and kid-friendly. There was a spacious patio, and if you were double-dating like us, there is a romantic feel as well. Thank you for the large television. My husband seems to need one everywhere we go. It was viewable from most angles. In a nutshell, we were very comfortable.
It was my first time having the green rice, which was flavorful and moist. Noted it is now a favorite to add to any dish next time. Yes, there will be a next time. The entire plate was like no other, and I almost forgot to take a photo because when it all arrived, you could smell freshness.
Take your time with the menu. Everything was so appealing, I was undecided; however, I just picked a dish.
Hooray for the chips and salsa. No, it was not canned tomato sauce, tasting as if it were made to order, which felt tableside, I swear!
The queso dip was another hit. Gotta be careful with that savory goodness. Paired with the salsa and warm chips; pinch yourself because it was heaven. You may not be able to finish your entree if you keep this up.
The service was unbelievably grand due to the high number of customers. They were on it!
There is nothing to complain about there. As a matter of fact, NOTHING TO COMPLAIN OF AT ALL!
When it comes to margaritas, better ask someone else, I never have an issue in this field! Yet again, margaritas win. They were well-balanced with the tequilla and margarita mix, salt perfectly around the rim to accent the glass. As usual, the only thing that is ever missing in my margaritas anywhere is a SCORPION 🦂 🤭.
See you soon, guys!!

This was my first time back at Modesto in probably a year or so and I'll definitely come back. The service was great and the tacos were SO good. I got the carne asada which was spicier than I thought it would be but super flavorful. And I also got the Baja fish which was super crispy and I might have to get two of next time :)

I never heard of this place before. My husband brought me here. We decided to try it out and now is one of my favorite Mexican Restaurant around Baton Rouge. We have quite too many but not all of them have flavorful food. Modesto food is delicious.
